READ MORE Tiziana Contu nasce a Cagliari, dove vive e lavora. Dopo la sua formazione scolastica tradizionale di base e lo sviluppo della propria carriera professionale, prende ad interessarsi degli aspetti creativi delle attività artigiane; approda così, negli anni, allo studio della ceramica (approfondendo fra l’altro la lavorazione al tornio e la tecnica “raku”), della pittura decorativa su supporti tessili, della tessitura ai telai quadro, a tensione ed a otto licci (col maestro Paolo Marras), e della tessitura col telaio “ewe” (col maestro Luciano Ghersi, presso la Fondazione Lisio di Firenze, nel 2006). Parallelamente a tali interessi sviluppa quello per la musica, dedicandosi allo studio del canto Corale Polifonico ed al canto lirico. Ciò la porta a fondare, unitamente ad altre appassionate in ambito corale, l’associazione culturale “Tirirìnnia” (in lingua sarda “tela di ragno”), con l’obiettivo di studiare le relazioni esistenti fra ritmo del telaio e ritmo vocale/musicale, e dando vita ad azioni sceniche in cui voci e suoni generati dalla tessitura si fondono ispirandosi all’antica tradizione del “telaio cantato”. Nel suo laboratorio di Cagliari crea delle opere a carattere aneddotico nelle quali riesce a coniugare le esperienza maturate nel corso della sua formazione, unendo spesso tessitura, ceramica, carta ad objets trouvèes ,e lavorando alla costante ricerca del potenziale evocativo di fili ingarbugliati e dipanati di cotone, di lino, seta, ed altri ancora di natura vegetale insieme con fili di rame e ferro. Opere che, partendo dalla ricerca di incontro/scontro dei materiali accostati per attrazione tattile, cromatica e olfattiva, raccontano spesso, come fa la penna di uno scrittore, emozioni di vita. READ MORE Franco Crocco, painter and engraver, was born in Rome in 1964 and lives and works in Velletri (Rome). Thanks to his father, he received a strong input in developing his interest in painting. Therefore he studied at the State Art Institute of Ciampino (Rome) under the supervision of Gastone Primon. Afterwards he graduated at the Academy of Arts in Rome where he worked with the support of Enzo Brunori and Duilio Rossoni. In particular, the encounter with Enzo Brunori was decisive crucial (relevant) for his artistic engagement and evolution to explore nonfigurative art: mainly from a theoretical point of view, Brunori was an Umbrian artist, the most representative of the Abstract-Concrete movement established in 1952 by Lionello Venturi. Currently F.C. is teacher of paint at the School of Arts Enzo Rossi (Rome) and he runs classes of Contemporary and Experimental Painting at the Ornamental Arts School (Rome). He has run several specialized courses about engraving techniques at the KAUS (Urbino) and at the Opificio della Rosa di Montefiore Conca (Rimini). Several museums and exhibition centres display his work in permanent exhibitions. He is been hosted by MACRO Testaccio (Rome, 2012-2017) and several other Art galleries and Art Fairs through the world. Among the others, the MAC - Museum of Contemporary Art of Pernambuco ‘Teresa Costa Rego’ (Olinda, Brazil) also displays his work. Some of the most relevant exhibitions he has taken part in are: Art Fair Arte a Palazzo 2014-2016 at the Galleria Farini (Bologna) during which he was supported by Giorgio Grasso; in 2014, the exhibition Forlì Arte - 18th Contemporary Art Fair in collaboration with Artexpo Gallery and the 16th International Art Fair Immagina – Arte in fiera in collaboration at the NeoArt Gallery (Reggio Emilia); in 2015 he has taken part in Romart, Biennial Exhibition of Art and Culture at the Fair of Rome and, in the same year, in the Expo 2015 – International Expo of Milan in the CCUP Pavillon (Popular Republic of China): during the Art Contest The Qualities of China he has presented his last work based on the accumulation process, his latest conceptual upgrade for the theme Planet Nutrition. Thanks to this opportunity, he has received the special mention which allowed him to take part in an itinerant exhibition in China in 2016. Also in 2016 he has taken part in several exhibitions: Art Innsbruck 2016; Montreux Art Gallery, 12ème Salon d’Art Contemporain; XVI Art Prize City of Novara; Human Right – Diversity, 139 artists in dialogue on the wonderful value of diversity, at the Foundation Opera Campana dei Caduti a Colle di Miravalle (Rovereto, Trento) organized by Aiapi. In 2017 he has presented his works at the Caelum Gallery of New York and during the Russian Art Fair Lungo la grande via della seta at the National Gallery Balvaevo in Moscow with the support of Qualitaly Association. He is supported by the Orler Style Channel and is often involved in their TV sales platform. Franco Crocco’s artistic work and research are conducted through different kinds of informal experimentations: his approach consists in a pictorial production which prefers autonomous and expressive lines, following their continuous update. In this constant effort to tune his works, the possibility to combine several different techniques allows him to explore inaccessible fields. Thus his creation gets a greater meaning within the process over obtaining a definite and permanent shape. The conflict between the need to accomplish his work and the open creative process, is resolved in a sort of ongoing work in progress. The desire to emphasize the process rather than the result, is the key concept supporting the formal evolution of his production. Following this idea, every work can be completed by other works and trough their continuous evolution. His most recent works alternate his interest for the nature - and in particular for seasonal changes – with his talent in selecting and combining words’ patterns in order to highlight a specific theme. In recent years, his teaching experiences led him to develop and design a new series of works inspired by the laws of Gestalt, exploiting the accumulation technique and making wide use of recycled materials in favor of a powerful visual impact.

Angela Occhipinti was born in Perugia, she lives and works in Milan. After graduating in painting at the Fine Arts Academy of Florence, she specialised in graphic art and engraving, under the guidance of Pietro Parigi and Giuseppe Viviani. In her frequent travels abroad, she frequented and worked o... READ MORE Angela Occhipinti was born in Perugia, she lives and works in Milan. After graduating in painting at the Fine Arts Academy of Florence, she specialised in graphic art and engraving, under the guidance of Pietro Parigi and Giuseppe Viviani. In her frequent travels abroad, she frequented and worked on Leblanc’s and Mourlot’s printing press and she can into contact with the greatest masters of modern art, including Picasso and Mirò. Her works are exhibited in Italian and foreign private collections and museums. She made a thorough study with Hayter about the chemical processes in relation to the use of colours in the printing phases and acids in etching. In Bologna she met Giorgio Morandi, whose engraving workshop she attended. In 1958, having moved to Milan, she met Lucio Fontana, with whom she worked on experimental ceramic art at Martinotti's workshop and engraving at the “Grafica Uno" of Giorgio Upiglio. Since 1961 she frequented and worked at Giorgio Upiglio's printing laboratory, where she developed her graphic experience while coming into contact with artists of the shot of Duchamp, Lam and Vedova, starting the long way of producing and publicising books and portfolios containing original prints carried out with all of the various engraving techniques. She has engraved around 900 plates and published 53 portfolios of engravings, introduced by critics and writers of international fame. Since 1974 she has held the chair of engraving by the Academy of fine Arts of Macerata. Since 1978 she has held the chair of engraving at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, where she teaches the infinite and complex possibilities that can be obtained with wood-engraving (xilografia), etching (acquaforte), lithography and with all the new etching techniques. She has held, upon invitation, courses about the techniques of engraving at the Universities of Chicago/USA; Stockholm/Sweden; Ankara/Turkey; Seoul/Korea; Tokyo/Japan; Rabat/Morocco; Buenos Aires/ Argentine; San Paolo/ Brazil; .etc.etc. She has held more than 90 personals in private and public galleries, and in museums in Europe, America and in the East. She participated in a large number of group exhibitions She has travelled and stayed a long time in the East: China, Tibet, Nepal, Burma, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Argentine, Chile, Uruguay and the USA. She has participated, upon invitation in very important exhibitions, national and international biennials of painting and engraving, she has won numerous prizes. Since 1979 she was co-ordinator of the international Erasmus office at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. She has organised cultural events, written books and catalogues at Brera and abroad. Her works are found: in private collections and in museums of contemporary art in Italy and abroad: Murals for the terminal O’Hare in Chicago; Altarpiece for the Church of Sciarè, Gallarate Italy;; Sculptures at Rebibbia, Rome; Viadana park; Sarule, Nuoro, Italy; S.Tropez; France; Santo Domingo, two murals in Beijing, China. Paolo Signore is increasingly revealing himself as an "underdog" in the art world, a "late" artist - as the magazine "A Levante" defined him - who is absolutely out of the usual art world channels, but who is able to show day by day that it is never too late to follow our own dreams! This biographical note is a necessary premise for better understanding Signore’s approach to pictorial research, including the fact that he goes against the tendency - diffused in contemporary art - to propose works that are often incomprehensible. Rather, his effort is aimed at recovering the emotional role and the social function that art has always had. Light, vibrant colors and chromatic contrasts form the three cornerstones of this varied-souls artist, who, from the lively - sometimes violent - color turns to bivalent compositions played on black and white or to the contrast between strong colors, almost as in a pictorial metaphor of life itself, including its pleasing as well as dark sides. Maybe just by virtue of these peculiarities, Signore’s works capture the observer, who is attracted inside the canvas and transported in another dimension in a journey between the unconscious and the reality, thereby being forced to release from all the chains of the existence, hovering in a brave flight to life. An illustrative example of Signore’s art is given by one of the most critically acclaimed and publicly-admired works, Bataclan, an oil on canvas in which the artist presented what he thinks about the attitude the art should have regarding the events that characterize the current era. Through painting, he seeks to evoke different sensations and to investigate in depth the human soul in order to trigger a dialogue between the artist and an the observer that goes beyond individuality, becoming a message to humanity! This idea, which could easily be transformed into a new artistic movement (Contemporaneim Avant-garde), from a technical point of view consist in a style that stresses colors but gives a shape to contrasts, thus producing a harmonious effect that stimulates emotions and TALKS to people and their cognitive world made of expectations, hopes and dreams and troubled by the crisis context we live in.

He does not like artworks just for decoration but to evoke feelings. O. Yemi uses his works to speak passionately about the issues that touch his heart. He uses his painting “African’t” to speak about the exploitations of African nations. The painting paradoxically depicts the poverty and the riches of Africa. “The Fishers of Men” is about the horror of refugees drowning in Mediterranean Sea. O.
